The following resolutions were adopted in the spring 2006 and spring 2007 elections.

RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta recommend the adoption of universal curriculum-based external exit exams (CBEEES) throughout the United States education system. RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta recommend that multiple measures be utilized to measure academic success.

RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta recommend that the United States Department of Education establish a national system of certification or else that all states enter into reciprocity agreements covering certification, retirement plans, and health plans. RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta encourage all educators to refocus their efforts on identifying and rectifying the instructional and institutional practices that contribute to the persistent achievement gap between black and white students, and on striving for the cultural proficiency and high academic achievement of all students.

RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta support universal preschool education and the certification of early childhood educators. RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta recommend full funding of federal laws pertaining to education, including the No Child Left Behind Act.

RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta recommend that financial resources and time during the school day be allocated to support arts education and physical education for all K-12 students, and that curricular design include activities that support natural brain development and individuality in learning. RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta recommend that before the federal government imposes sanctions on any school under the No Child Left Behind Act, it be required to fund fully the cost of implementing the Act’s mandates at that school for at least four budget cycles.

RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta endorse the position of the American School Counselor Association, which recommends “a professional school-counselor-to-student ratio of 1:250 and that professional school counselors spend 80 percent of their time in direct service to students.” RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta recommend that
P-12 schools institute policies that prohibit all tobacco use by all persons on school grounds at all times, and during all off-campus school-related activities.

RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta support alternative certification for teachers, provided that the passing thresholds for basic teaching skills, professional knowledge and pedagogy, and academic content are consistent with NCLB'S requirement for “highly qualified classroom teachers,” and that alternatively-certified teachers demonstrate mastery of content and pedagogy that is no less than is required of traditionally certified teachers. RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta advocate the adoption of the following recommendations made by The Education Trust:
o At the federal level: The state expenditure factor in the Title I formula should be eliminated, and Title I funding should compensate for differences in state capacity to fund education.

o At the state level: States need to assess relative challenges across districts and ensure that funding is commensurate with the challenges and set equity standards for all school districts.

o At the school district level: Districts need to publish transparent budgets and allocation figures to provide for greater accountability of local spending patterns.

RESOLVED: The members of Pi Lambda Theta recommend that teachers be offered training in how to use the Internet for structured teaching and how to integrate online learning into the curriculum.
