PROJECT EXCELLENCE is a compendium of
major awards that recognize outstanding performance by
educators. Awards and award sponsors must meet
established criteria. They are carefully screened
to insure the significance and integrity of listed awards.
Each
Project Excellence award is listed by mutual agreement of Pi
Lambda Theta and the award sponsor. An educator who receives
a listed award is eligible for PLT membership; all other
eligibility criteria are waived.

THE FOCUS of Project
Excellence is PreK-12 education. Most awards are for excellence
as a teacher or administrator in a pre-collegiate setting.
Project Excellence also extends to higher education awards
that recognize excellence in endeavors that directly affect
PreK-12 education, for example, teacher preparation and curriculum
development.
THE PURPOSE of Project
Excellence is to
give substance to the appreciation of excellence among
educators by making more people aware of available awards
and encouraging the nomination of more deserving educators.
THE GOAL of Project
Excellence is for
every sponsor of a qualifying award to join in supporting
the project, creating a place where anyone wishing to
recognize any excellent educator can find every available
major award.
